BRIC-National Institute of Immunology offers rigorous long-term research training leading to the award of a Ph.D. degree of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana. Applications for the Ph.D. program are invited from candidates aspiring for a scientific career in biological and related sciences. NII admits Ph.D. candidates twice each year, during the winter and monsoon sessions.
A detailed announcement describing the selection procedure for admission to the Ph.D. program is displayed on the Institute's website and advertised in national newspapers and the Employment News. Applications for the winter session (beginning in January) are invited in August/September, while applications for the monsoon session (beginning in July) are invited in February/March. Around 25 to 30 scholars are admitted to the program annually, selected based on their performance in two rounds of interviews.
The eligibility criteria for the PhD program are a 4-year Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in any branch of science and technology (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), or a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree, or an equivalent degree, as per the norms of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana and an active, 5 year fellowship from a government agency such as CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR..
Candidates interested in pursuing research toward their Ph.D. in broad interdisciplinary research areas of Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology and Computational Biology are invited to submit applications.
Applications will be received online for the Winter Session of the Ph.D. program, commencing in January 2026, from 29th September 2025 to 20th October 2025.
